The Rhinog Horseshoe Fell Race took place from Llanbedr, near Harlech on Saturday 21st October. This tough 15 mile race attracted a large field this year as it was a counter in the Welsh Fell Runners Association Open / Welsh Championship and North Wales Series. Weather conditions were mostly dry, windy, clear on the summits but with some heavy showers towards the end of the race. It was wet and slippery underfoot. The race was won by Lloyd Taggart of Dark Peak in a new record time of 2 hours 50 minutes and 42 seconds. Steve Gilliland of Bro Dysynni was 2nd in 3.00.18 (also 1st over 40), and Barry Wilkinson (unattached) 3rd in 3.02.01. The over 50 category was won by Steve Jones of Eryri in 3.03.27, and first over 60 was Yiannis Tridimas of Bowland in 3.21.28. The ladies race was won by Jackie Lee of Eryri, 4th overall, also in a new record time of 3.02.18. Anna Bartlett of Shrewsbury was 2nd in 3.21.39, and Andrea Roberts of Eryri 3rd in 3.41.46. The over 40 category was won by Gill Evans of Shepshed in 3.46.21.
